Lead Testing

Idaho Department of Health and Welfare

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be offering free lead soil testing. Learn about lead in soil (PDF), and follow these instructions to collect soil samples (PDF) for analysis via XRF (x-ray fluorescence) machine at the fair. Disclaimer: While the XRF can help characterize soil lead levels, it is not as accurate as laboratory analysis.

Go to the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare’s website and click on “Sources of Lead Exposure” to learn more about lead exposure.

Lead Safe and Healthy Homes

The City of Pocatello’s Lead Safe and Healthy Homes Program will be offering free lead testing of toys, trinkets, pottery and ceramics, costume jewelry, small painted items, vintage glassware, small appliances/utensils, and paint chips.
