CONTEST
RECYCLED SCULPTURE CONTEST
Using locally sourced recycled materials, create a sculpture around the theme. Our goal is to promote sustainable habits and to reduce the amount of recyclable materials that end up in our landfills.
GUIDELINES
- AGES: 4th grade to 100
- THEME: Our Power, Our Planet: tripling renewable energy resources by 2030.

- SUBMISSION INSTRUCTIONS: Sculpture entries shall be brought to Lookout Point between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025.

ILLUSTRATED POEM CONTEST
The Portneuf Valley Environmental Fair and ISU Chemistry Club are sponsoring an illustrated poem contest for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Entries will be accepted in English, Spanish, Shoshone, Bannock, and braille.
GUIDELINES
- GRADES: K–12.
- THEME: Glaciers: Hot Topic, Cool Chemistry!
- PRIZES: Cash prizes for local contest winners! Winners will also advance to the National Illustrated Poetry Contest for a chance to be featured on the American Chemical Society website and win additional prizes!

- SUBMISSION DEADLINE AND INSTRUCTIONS: Friday, April 18, at 5:00 PM. Please bring poems and entry forms to Pocatello City Hall, located at 911 N 7th Ave, and drop them off in the lobby in a basket clearly labelled "Illustrated Poetry Contest." You can also submit them by emailing them to bolson@pocatello.gov. Please make sure the student's name is on their artwork and all entry forms have been submitted!

- University of Exeter: Researchers partnered with software developers to create an educational game about how the climate is changing Antarctica. More suited towards middle and high school but all are welcome!

Congratulations to Reagan Rendon who placed 1st in the K-2nd grade local contest and 2nd in the American Chemical Society’s National Contest! The winning poetry can be seen on the ACS website at https://www.acs.org/education/ccew/plan-an-event/illustrated-poem-contest/winners.html.
ECOFILM CONTEST
Rotary District 5400’s Environment Sustainability Action Team is holding its second Youth Eco Video Contest this time focused on environmental storytelling. The winners will be announced during the fair from the bandshell and can be viewed at the Centennial Rotary booth.

- AGES: 12–19 and grades 7–12
- THEMES: Everything from electric vehicles to solar, recycling, diet and more!
